Snowed in on Mount Crumpet

Little bit of cabin fever as we have been stuck in our home for over a week due to over 2 feet of snow. We are not known much for snow let alone snow removal. We got creative and built a snow mountain in the front yard, which the kids named Mt Crumpet from the Grinch. They used it to sled all the way to the road. Well, it's Christmas Eve and the kids are crazy along with mom and dad. Merry Christmas

Winter Wonderland

So I know that all of us are getting snow right now, but for us this is a special treat. We have had a few inches and the girls were so excited to pull out their ski clothing. Now if we could only go skiing, that would be great. We have not tried skiing here, but we learned to ski somewhere else and we are a little bias to there. For fun, today we are having a neighborhood snowman contest. Everyone is building snowmen in their yards and rumor has it that one family is doing the judging...... thank goodness it is not us it is freezing here! Here are the girls making theirs with a little help. It feels so festive with the snow ...... maybe we will have a white Christmas.

A Surprise Visit

So you know that Christmas is quickly approaching when the lights are hung, your house smells like a Christmas tree, it is freezing outside and of course crazy kids ..... it all the excitement you know. We actually had a few snow flurries earlier today. And to our surprise we even had a special visitor. Upon opening the door, we were surprised to see Santa and Mrs Clause. They had come to see if we had been good this year. We were also lucky enough to get a special gift. Santa read us the story of the Polar Express and he happen to leave with each little posie one of the special bells from his sleigh. The delight on their faces and magic in the air was great. Seeing their happy faces, was our first Christmas gift. As you embark on all the holiday preparations, remember that the best gift of all can not be wrapped, purchased or even held. The gift of serving and loving one another and remembering Christ is what it is all about. Merry Christmas!

Words of Wisdom From a Turtle

So Thanksgiving came and went in a flash. We did not travel home to be with family this year. So in need of a big crowd, we invited some friends over. It was great! I have never had to cook a turkey but this year I was on. Yikes .... could you imagine the repercussion of poisoning 20 people with under cooked turkey? I am proud to announce that the turkey was very moist and cooked and no one got sick. Yea one task accomplished. Later after everyone left, we watched Kung fu Panda and I love the turtles words of wisdom. We could use some of that around here during our transition. Who would of thought a children's show could provide such insight from a turtle. Take them as needed and I hope they make you feel good. " You are too concerned with what was and what will be. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present."
here's another one
"One meets his destiny often in the road he takes to avoid it."

It's Official

So it has been awhile since my last post. We have been busy and crazy as always. But this is one of the things that we have been up to. That's right, we have put our house on the market ..... I guess we are moving. I have been trying to get the house ready to sell but have been slow in doing so. I sent in the last piece of paper work, but had not sent in the money to list our home. And to my surprise, I looked out the window and there it was ...... a for sale sign in my yard. Decision made! So you might ask where we are going .... good question. If we sell our home we will be moving closer to family. If our home does not sell we will be happy to stay. So we will see what is in store for us ..... exciting! So if you know anyone who is looking for a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath send them our way.

Is It Halloween Yet

So last Friday night it was our schools Fall Festival. Of course you  can dress up and it is crazy as all get out. Just imagine everyone packed into the gym with their families doing games and chatting. It is a very loud and hot experience but one that we love. It is great to visit with all of the families and to meet the parents of all those mysterious names and people you hear about from school. So of course the girls were excited to dress up and of course I could not help to snap a couple of pictures of them. I can't tell who loves Halloween more me or the girls. For the me holidays start Oct 1st. Pumpkin ginger soup, molasses cookies, fall leaves and of course all of those great decorations. Fall is in the air and it is great.

What was I thinking

So on Friday, Papa Posie had surgery .... not just something small, his ACL replaced. So not only am I busy with him and holding down the fort, my kind neighbor brought over 30 lbs..... that right 30 lbs of grapes she had picked off of her vine. Now of course they were very ripe and needed some quick action or else all would be lost. So in addition to everything else, the girls and I made grape juice on Sunday. They had a great time and of course got very sticky. I am still cleaning it up the day after. Whew that stuff gets everywhere. But here they are squishing away trying to juice those grapes. So you might be wondering how it tasted .... pretty good but not like store bought. The grape variety was different. JUICE anyone?

What Happened

So just looking at little posie, it looks like she has seen better days. Who is her mother...... is she taking good care of her? I can honestly say that she is being very well taken care of. At 2 she already has had plastic surgery to fix her eye that dropped down when tired. Mama posie would not mind a little tuck or a pull here and there but that will have to wait if ever happens. What a parent would not do for their little ones. She actually had surgery 2 weeks ago and she is looking great. She was not even down that long. After surgery she was a little grumpy but we gave her some tylenol and she was on her way. How great it is be little and heal so quick.

Pink Pirate Party

So oldest posie just recently had a birthday party and the chosen theme was a GIRL pirate party. Now if you just said you are having a pirate party she would have to correct you and say it was a GIRL pirate party. No boy things here. As guest's showed up we gave them each a pirate bandanna, a tattoo to put on and an eye patch. Even mom got into the spirit, and dressed up. But those tatoos are killer to get off. First we decorated swords and then played some games. One of the games was a balloon toss which none of the girls wanted to do. So mom threw out the idea that we should all throw our water balloons at Dad. Of course they all scream yaaaaa and went after him. He was a good sport and did not get to wet.

First Day of School

So it seems strange to me that a lot of people have already started school. I guess we are the ones that started late this year. Sept 3 was our first day and it was bittersweet to see them go. We had such a great summer and it went by so fast. With us making a career change I just think it would be great if the girls were home to enjoy Dad being around. So here they are the two blondies very excited and they were glad to start school.

Potty Training Ugggh

So here we are back home and I guess back to the routine. Since we are home and not traveling for awhile I thought I would potty train little posie. My window of opportunity seemed to be closing and I wanted to get it out of the way. Well lets see the other two posies were quick to train, two or three days, I thought she would be easy. But I did forget to factor in one thing her strong personality. I knew it was going to be a long week when she pick up her potty and said all done and gave it to me. Yikes! So after a long week of coaxing and following her around I did give up on Sunday. And what do you know, she is doing by herself. Hence all the stickers on her face. Cute, but the older posies thought that it looked like chickenpox.

Dog Days of Summer

So we are at the end of August and this month is traditionally known as the dog days of summer. However, at our house it is the dog days of summer of a different sort. Our littlest one thinks she is a dog. She loves animals and while on vacation, she got to be with grandma's dog (formally mine). Of course she loved it, in fact so much that she tried to drink water out of the bowl and was always picking up his food. We were lucky she did not eat it. She did get hungry and did find time to share a popsicle with Dad. Life is good!

Home For Awhile

We were away on vacation and just returned. We ended extending our vacation since we had no work to return to. With the final days of our current job ending, it is strange to think we have nothing to go back to ...... that is if you don't count school. We actually had a great time with family and towards the end we did finally relax and not rush so much. We were able to get in some hiking and lots of swimming and the sun ya that was amazing. Heat is always good.

Is This a Vacation?

So we are away on vacation, what could be better. We are seeing family and of course having a whirl wind trip. We thought this was going to be a time for relaxing, but we have run from pillar to post. We left home and drove for 4 days, yes I said 4 days to get to our camping spot. We of course did a lot of stopping and were able to see some of Yellowstone, Jackson Hole and a few other places. But we were tired when we finally arrived. We spent two days there and continued on to be with our families which are in another state.....whew! Of course here we have friends and family to fit in. We will go home I am sure more exhausted then we came, how great..... that is the way it should be. We will need a vacation from the vacation. I have left my lap top at home so I only have a few pictures that were emailed to me. I will add some later.

Confusion

So older posie has these cute little friends who are twins. I have known them now for 2 years. You would think by now I could tell them apart but some days are better than others. So the other day they were over at our house and I called out one of their names. Of course it was the wrong name and she said to me, "don't you know my name yet?" .... of course I do and I called by her name. That is not the worst part, there have been times where I have called them by the wrong names in front of their mom .... yikes embarassing! I was so glad last year when she cut one of the two girls hair, it helped but obviously not enough for me. Okay ... okay maybe I should not blame it on them being so similiar.... truth hurts. Maybe I have used to much hair color and its going to my brain.

Constant During Change

So we are having a lot of change as most of you know. And this morning we got some news that was not that great, but that will be talked about later in a post I am sure. But I am so glad for the constant during all this change. So today little posie found her pitty wess as she calls it. All morning music has been playing not quite but very loud so she could dance. This dress is HUGE and very scratchy ..... I mean scratchy. Why do they always make them so uncomfortable. So lunch rolled around, thought it was coming off very WRONG. At nap time I was somewhat optimistic it was coming off, but again I was shown who was in charge. We will see if she is going to sleep in it tonight. She thinks she looks so amazing and you know what she does! Life is constantly changing for better or worse, but little ones are always the same. In charge and doing just what they want to. I could learn from that and make sure I am staying true to who I am and not let the "supposed to's" get in the way. Change is good even if in the event you don't understand it all.

4th Of July

So traditionally we have traveled on the 4th but this year we stayed home. But we were lucky in that we had company this year what could be better? However, with the weather a bit cool, we tried to make the best of it. We were still able to do a picnic on the beach, light fireworks and took in a baseball game. What a great weekend. We loved having you guys ..... you are so great come again.

Bye Bye Sweet Ride

Change is good and in the air at our house. Yesterday the 26th of June, my hubby told his boss that he is quiting his job of 10 years. Wow! So no more sweet rides for free. He is going to work through the end of Aug and then we are left to our own devices. So we talked about what we are going to do. I suggested going to India for 6 months and studying yoga, great for me maybe not so great for the posies, schooling and oh ya money. Hubby suggested going to Ecuador for 6 months and doing humanitarian work. Great for everyone, but I guess we will stay and do the responsible thing ..... boring! We are excited to have this time to explore and see what we can come up with. Even Sophie was surprised at our announcement. Life is good!

Long Days

So we are finally getting close to the end of school. We all will be glad for the lack of routine, long warm days and lots of sun. Now summer is subjective depending on where you live. Here the sun comes out and even if it is still cool the girls are in their swimsuits and looking for a Popsicle. We are lucky that we have a kind neighbor who has lots of great toys. She invited the girls over and of course even though it was not that warm to me, the girls were in their suits. How great is that to be cold and not even care. I remember those days. Speaking of those days, little Posie has this great bike that is reminiscent of those old days. Our Dad saw it and could not pass on getting it. Now Dad....... is that a girls bike? Maybe he is trying to get a little boy power here.

Crazy But Fun

So sometimes you just run like crazy and have so much fun that you have to take a break. It all started Friday morning. Middle Posie is so particular that on Friday morning she was late because she had to make sure her bed was absolutely perfect. It was a true labor love. We rushed to school for a volunter breakfast. After a crazy morning we lucked out and the Posies were farmed out after school. This meant thats right we were left alone in the house to have dinner together ...... could you imagine that? What could be better!
With no little Posies, we made dinner and ate it in the quiet .... how great! We went to pick everyone up and as they came home one by one, they dressed up. This is one of the reasons I love having girls, their complicated but it is so fun to see them do things together. Little Posie and middle one were so cute that I had to get a shot of them.
So Saturday we went to a parade, fished, went to wedding and moved someone close by. Oldest Posies came home and threw up. I guess that is how you know the fun is over and we need a break.
